Sacred Cyborgs, Gebunden

Klappentext

As emerging technologies challenge foundational understandings of human personhood, agency, and moral responsibility, Sacred Cyborgs offers a timely and original response rooted in theological inquiry and ethical reflection. Drawing on diverse traditions-including Islamic theology, Buddhist cosmology, Christian ethics, and philosophical transhumanism-the book illuminates the complex interplay between technological futures and sacred imaginaries. It brings together leading scholars in theology, ethics, and science and technology studies to explore how interfaith perspectives can critically engage with the promises and perils of transhumanism and artificial intelligence. The contributions are organized around key topics such as personhood, embodiment, perfection, techno-myths, and agency. The volume argues that by embracing interdisciplinary scholarship and fostering interreligious exchanges, we can develop more nuanced responses to the pressing questions of technological progress, moral responsibility, and the future of human agency in an increasingly digitized world. It is valuable reading for scholars of religion, ethics, and technology.
